How can you not be happy?
I’ve given you a clean bill of health.
I’ve given you money to spend.
I’ve given you clothes to wear.
I’ve given you food to eat and shelter for comfort.
I’ve given you the ability to be fearless.
I’ve given you ears to hear with.
I’ve given you eyes to see with – and a brain to think with.
I’ve given you the breath of life.
Sure, you’ve endured some struggles – it’s a part of living.
When it’s all spoken, I’ve given you many moving body parts.
I’ve kept you away from the abusers and users.
I’ve kept you from aches and pains.
Do you recall the many losses you’ve suffered? I’ve mended those broken pieces.
You’ve been given so much more than others!
I dare you not to be happy . . .
When there are many others who are homeless
When there are others who remain hungry and thirsty
When there are others who are being abused and misused
When there are others whose minds are lost and hearts are broken
When there are others who don’t even have a shirt on their back
When there are others with the losses of many body parts
When there are others who are afraid of their own shadow
When there are others who never know where their next meal will come from
Now, you are discouraged with the crisis that thrust the world – I’ve known to work in mysterious ways
How can you not be happy with all those beautiful gifts YOU’VE been given?
Count your many blessings – now, name them one by one. And you’ll be amazed by the things I’ve done. Do you recall? I’m the Father of the Universe and the Master of it all . . . I create and I destroy!
