Greetings Readers:
As you know, I have been in the wellness circle for some time (now) since my journey. Journaling was a huge part of the recovery process─ bringing me from a dark place into that healthy space. Let us not forget transformation is the root of wellness. We can learn much about ourselves and that which evolves around us. The learning path leads to getting a proper education. We grow, we strive, we succeed, and through the journey, we become the leaders of tomorrow.
Better educational and life opportunities equates to building a better tomorrow. Check out the learning environment that offers benefits for students and parents alike. Charter schools a growing market. What are charter schools for? The purpose of a charter vs. a public school is to offer an environment for students that fosters independence, motivation, and one that caters to the students’ needs in a smaller environment. Charters can offer a lot of opportunities that traditional schools can’t, and provide creative and innovative learning environments for students.
Today’s featured guest is . . . D R U M R O L L PLEASE!
Hello, I’m Michelle Flowers!
Michelle Flowers, an unapologetic education advocate for children and families in underserved communities. I migrated from my homeland of Jamaica, West Indies at the age of nine years old with my mother and two younger siblings to Brooklyn, New York in search of access to better educational and life opportunities. The experience of being in the New York City public school system has greatly influenced this great call to service for me in this capacity of my work.
Since those early years in New York City’s school system, Michelle has proven her worth as a leader. That is because Michelle is no stranger to education. She is a huge supporter of charter organizations. Her passion for professionalism, aspirations, and philosophical beliefs has afforded her the leadership role as a Champion.
Working in underserved communities to advance equity, her drive inspires students to lead productive and transformative lives. As the CEO and Founder of Excelsior Academies Village, she stands firm in her statement that:
“We have an incredible opportunity to be who or what inspired us for our scholars, so they too can one day stand in their life’s purpose. I have provided and will continue to provide quality development for leaders and teachers as well as outstanding educational choices to families, scholars, and the communities we hope to serve. Passion is drive, vitality, and vigor and Excelsior Village Academies is passionate about partnering with parents and community members to design a tuition-free, public charter school providing the educational experience local families desire. Our EVA “Village” will be the best we can be for the scholars we’ll serve in all the years to come.”
