SCENE ONE: ”THE RED DRESS”
LOCATION – NINA’S HOME
SETTING: EARLY 1970s
Nina is in the mirror, admiring her new dress. Marcus walks in the room.
NINA: What do you think hon, does it show my curves?
(Marcus finally notices Nina’s dress and does a double-take . . . looks at her with a wrinkled face filled with jealousy)
MARCUS: Don’t think you’re going out wearing that slutty outfit!
NINA: Slutty!!! You are kidding, right?
(She continues to admire herself)
Suddenly, Marcus grabs the supporting straps from her shoulder. He viciously tries to pull her dress down and off her body. They struggle to the floor. While on the floor, Nina is left with nothing on but her bra and panties. Marcus stands triumphantly over her, looking down at the dress.
MARCUS: What do I think of this dress? (He tosses it into the trash can!)
(Nina stares at him with anger in her eyes.)
MARCUS (jokingly): Oh. you want some of this!
(Marcus shrugs the thought and walks away. Nina starts breathing rapidly as she looks for a weapon to kill Marcus. She sees a butcher knife under the table. In one swift move, she grabs the knife and shoves Marcus against the wall. Marcus is caught off guard. Nina has the knife on his throat.)
MARCUS (struggles to speak): You’ve gone, crazy woman?
NINA (excitedly shouts): Y O U took me there!
(Nina presses the knife harder on his throat, a trickle of blood appears. Marcus’ eyes widen with fear. Suddenly, the baby cries out. Nina, with her eyes only, looks in the direction of her baby then back at Marcus.)
NINA (breathing slower): You’d best be glad, today, I’m not my dad’s child. And that child in there … Be thankful, she saved your life. Now, get the devil out of my house!
Stay tuned for more action and drama. A real-life story some may say, “Did this really happen?”
